COPPA Notice
Last updated: March 2026.
What This Page Is About
Juvelle is a family meal planning app. Some families include children under the age of 13. This page explains how we handle your child's information, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We've written this in plain language so you don't need a law degree to understand it.
What Information We Collect About Children
When you add a child under 13 as a household member in Juvelle, we collect:
- Their first name or nickname
- Their age
- Their dietary preferences and restrictions (for example, allergies or foods they dislike)
- Their nutritional goals and activity level
We do NOT collect:
- Email addresses from children
- Photos of children
- Location data from children
- Social media accounts
- Biometric data (fingerprints, face scans, voice recordings)
How We Use This Information
Your child's information is used only to:
- Generate age-appropriate meal plans within your family's meal plan
- Calculate proper portion sizes for their age and activity level
- Account for their dietary restrictions and allergies
We do not use children's data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than meal planning within your family account.
Who Can See This Information
Your child's information is:
- Visible only to the family account holder (you)
- Stored securely in our database, hosted by Supabase with encrypted storage and row-level access controls
- Never sold to third parties
- Never shared with advertisers
- Shared with OpenAI only as anonymized dietary preferences — no names or personal identifiers are included — for the purpose of generating meal plans
Your Rights as a Parent
You have the right to:
- Review all information we have stored about your child
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Delete your child's information at any time by removing them as a household member in the app
- Refuse further data collection by removing the child from your household
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@juvelle.app, or remove the child from your household in the app.
Parental Consent
Currently, the family account holder (parent or guardian) provides consent for children's data collection by adding them as household members. We are developing a verifiable parental consent system that will be implemented before our public launch, as required by COPPA. This will include additional verification steps to confirm parental identity before children's data is collected.
Changes to This Notice
If we change how we handle children's data, we will update this notice and notify you via email. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
